  7. CheckUPS software allows SCO UNIX/XENIX platforms to communicate with a Best
  8. FERRUPS, Fortress Uninterruptible Power System, or Patriot Standby Power
  9. System. During a prolonged power outage, CheckUPS monitors the amount of backup
  10. power the UPS can provide. When the UPS signals that runtime is getting low,
  11. CheckUPS does a soft shutdown of the PC, by executing user-defined keyboard
  12. macro strings. CheckUPS can exit programs and save data files to eliminate the
  13. risk of data loss or hardware damage. After the shutdown, CheckUPS can signal
  14. the UPS to turn itself off, saving battery power and reducing recharge times.
  15. CheckUPS also includes a built-in terminal emulator. This feature lets users
  16. program all the UPS operating parameters, change operating modes, manually
  17. initiate diagnostic tests, view waveform plots, and more. CheckUPS for SCO
  18. UNIX/XENIX is available on 5.25-inch or 3.5-inch floppy disk, and includes all
  19. cables and adapters required to connect the UPS to the computer.
